However, Photoshop’s reputation as an artist’s tool has only really begun to spread as of late. Photoshop has two very different sorts of work flow, depending on what you’re doing. One way is to start out with a basic image file and use a layer-based approach to build up your project. The other way of working in Photoshop is to start with a very complex image file and apply one effect at a time until you have the look you want. (You can use this technique to remove a layer and replace it with something else or to create a new layer to build up your image.) You can combine Photoshop and other software in some form of automated batch process to apply multiple effects in one go.
Photoshop also has a few tools that enable you to crop, align, and/or straighten and rotate images. These features are covered in Chapter 11.
Photoshop comes with a lot of other features, too: The largest of these is the content-aware tool, covered in Chapter 13, which enables you to correct red-eye and other imperfections. Other tools enable you to correct the color of your image (by selectively altering the red, green, and blue values), correct the exposure, eliminate unwanted objects, and so on. You also have tools to adjust the image’s brightness and shadows, sharpen your image, convert it to black and white or sepia, or add special effects like vignetting, sparkle, or soft focus. You can also add special text effects or effects that introduce visual fire, or glitches that appear to be windows of a different image underneath the main picture. You can also crop and rotate images in Photoshop as well.
Of course, Photoshop is designed to be used in a different way from many other tools. Photoshop is more than a simple editor. It’s a bit like a PC — the way you use Photoshop to create, edit, and create custom print designs is very different from the way you use a simple text editor, such as Notepad or EditPad

Every collection that is tied to a scrolling list has two features that make it hard to scroll or search effectively.
It must know the size of its children. This is usually done via a custom collection class that simply has a field holding the size of its children.
It must be able to efficiently remove items, even when multiple items at the same index are removed. See Removing Items.
To handle both 1 and 2, Flex has a feature called “item-based memory”. It basically keeps the items in a list in memory, indexed by their position in the list. Whenever you remove an item, it is replaced by the previous item’s offset. Whenever a new item needs to be added, it’s added on top of the previous item’s offset.
If you don’t use item-based memory, then it will need to know which items are children and which are not, which means it must iterate over the entire collection each time you need to do something. Removing items (or updates) may be extremely expensive in this model as it must iterate over every element in the list, and in a collection that has a lot of nodes, this can be a lot of work.
In your case, item based memory will be an excellent solution. You simply create a custom data structure which has some extra fields that represent the group membership, and whenever you insert or update a new object into your parent
